“Stop to Talk.” – When Costume Becomes a Social Object

This wearable piece by Yi Ming Wang transforms clothing into a social interface, continuing their inquiry into the connection between emotion and the body. Inspired by traditional dress from a small Spanish island, the concept “Stop to Talk” explores how costume can invite—or resist—conversation. The voluminous cloak creates space for solitude, making the boundary between interaction and silence beautifully unclear.

Can silence be a language? Can the absence of dialogue speak more truthfully?

🎐 In Collaboration with Ya-Fen Chen & ZHOU SHENG

The object design was created in collaboration with architect Ya-Fen Chen, whose poetic approach transforms vintage materials into contemporary narratives. Her interventions continue the dialogue between space, memory, and the body, making each object a quiet storyteller.

Together with artist ZHOU SHENG, we also developed a series of “New Chinese Butterfly Rings”, crafted through 3D printing. These delicate rings rest on the fingertips like butterflies in mid-flight—symbols of metamorphosis, bridging nature and technology, stillness and motion.
